Africa Outreach Missions
About Steve De La Porte
Having lived and worked in Zambia for approximately 30 years, Steve has witnessed both the beauty of the people and the hardships many families face. Through the years, God has led him into villages and communities throughout Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Namibia to share the Gospel, distribute Bibles, encourage churches, and bring practical help where possible.
One of Steve’s strongest passions is bringing hope to those who are struggling. Having personally experienced God’s deliverance from suicidal thoughts, he now ministers with compassion to people facing fear, despair, abuse, and hopelessness. His message is simple: true hope is found in Jesus Christ.

Steve’s Story
Steve De La Porte came to faith in Jesus Christ in Kitwe, Zambia, on 12 June 1977.
God saved Steve from suicidal thoughts and gave him a new life, purpose, and compassion for people who feel lost, afraid, or without hope.
For more than 30 years, Steve has lived and served in Zambia and Southern Africa. God has led him into remote villages in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Namibia.
His calling is clear: bring hope through Jesus Christ and challenge churches to care for their communities.
Steve believes that people need more than words. They need to hear the Gospel, receive God’s Word, experience prayer, and see the love of Christ through practical care.
His mission has two primary goals:
• To bring hope through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
• To encourage churches to actively serve and care for their local communities.
Recent outreach efforts in Namibia included the distribution of approximately 800 Bibles, 70 audio Bibles, clothing for children, and practical assistance to local communities.
Bringing Hope
Africa Outreach Missions is a Gospel mission focused on bringing Bibles, audio Scriptures, prayer, and the message of Jesus Christ to unreached rural tribes in Namibia and surrounding regions. Through mission travel, Bible distribution, and evangelism, Steve De La Porte is working to reach communities that have very limited access to God’s Word in their own language.
Africa Outreach Missions
Bringing Hope and God’s Word to Remote Communities in Africa
For many years, Steve De La Porte has followed God’s calling to bring the hope of Jesus Christ to some of the most remote communities in Southern Africa.
His mission is focused on two things:
1. Bringing hope to people who are suffering.
2. Challenging churches to become active in their communities.
Many rural areas face deep challenges:
- Poverty
- Child vulnerability
- Family struggles
- Fear and hopelessness
- Suicide among young people
- Lack of access to God’s Word
Steve believes the answer is found in Jesus Christ, who brings forgiveness, healing, and eternal hope.
A Calling to the Forgotten Places
Through the years, God has led Steve into villages and communities where few people travel.
His mission journeys have taken him to:
- Namibia
- Zimbabwe
- Zambia
- Botswana
Often traveling thousands of kilometers through rural areas, Steve meets people, shares the Gospel, prays with families, distributes Bibles, and encourages local churches.
Bible Mission: Bringing God’s Word
Many people in remote communities do not have access to a Bible in their own language.
Some cannot read or write, which makes audio Bibles an important tool.
The mission provides:
- Printed Bibles
- New Testaments
- Solar-powered audio Bibles
- Christian materials
Previous outreach included:
- 800 Bibles distributed in Namibia
- 70 audio Bibles provided
- Clothing donated to children
- Food supplies given to communities
Current Mission Projects
Upcoming missions focus on Western Zambia among the Lozi-speaking people, where poverty, malnutrition, child abuse, and suicide remain significant challenges. Steve works alongside local churches to distribute Bibles, strengthen Christian communities, and encourage believers to become agents of hope in their villages.
Together with his wife Suzanne, Steve continues to trust God for provision and opportunities to reach those who are often forgotten by the world but deeply loved by God.
Bible Distribution
Providing printed Bibles and solar-powered audio Bibles to remote communities across Southern Africa.
Current costs:
• Printed Bible: R65
• Audio Bible: R550
Current Mission Focus: Western Zambia
Steve’s next mission focus is Western Zambia among the Lozi-speaking Barotse people.
Western Zambia is one of the poorest parts of the country. Many families face poverty, child abuse, suicide, hunger, and limited access to Christian teaching and support.
The mission will work through existing churches to distribute Bibles, encourage pastors, share the Gospel, pray for people, and call local believers to become a light in their communities.
Please pray for open doors, protection during travel, provision for the mission, and lasting fruit in every village.
Mission Update
The Western Zambia mission now has a confirmed local partnership in Kalabo.
Local missionaries, evangelism teams, and churches are ready to receive Steve and Suzanne. The mission will bring Bibles, audio Bibles, prayer, Gospel outreach, and encouragement to rural Lozi-speaking communities.
Western Zambia Outreach
Supporting evangelism, discipleship, and Bible distribution among the Lozi-speaking communities of Western Zambia.
Mission needs include:
• Fuel and transportation
• Accommodation
• Food during outreach
• Bibles and ministry materials
An Open Door in Kalabo, Western Zambia
God has opened a clear door for the next Africa Outreach Mission.
Steve and Suzanne have received an invitation from a missionary team in Kalabo, Western Zambia. The mission station has worked with local churches in the area since 1997 and is now developing a new base for outreach into rural communities.
A local evangelism team is already active in the area. A local missionary will help Steve and Suzanne connect with churches, travel into rural villages, and identify communities where the need is greatest.
This partnership will make it possible to bring printed Bibles and solar-powered audio Bibles directly to people who need them. It will also help strengthen pastors, local churches, and evangelism teams already serving in Western Zambia.
The team in Kalabo has described this visit as an answer to prayer. They are preparing a safe place for Steve and Suzanne to stay and are ready to help them reach villages where the Gospel is needed most.
Please pray for this mission partnership, for protection during travel, and for many people to receive the hope of Jesus Christ.
Child Nutrition Support
Steve is also helping raise awareness and support for a clinic in Mongu, Zambia, that serves children suffering from malnutrition.
The clinic provides care for vulnerable children and offers opportunities for child sponsorship through local programs.
Additional support may include:
• Nutritional assistance
• Children’s clothing
• Child sponsorship initiatives
• Community care projects
Upcoming Mission: Western Zambia
The next focus is Western Zambia, where the Lozi-speaking Barotse people live.
This is one of the poorest regions of Zambia.
Many communities face:
- Extreme poverty
- Child abuse concerns
- Family challenges
- Suicide among women and young people
The mission goal:
To visit villages, share the Gospel, distribute Bibles, support local churches, and encourage pastors to serve their communities.
Help Fuel the Mission
Steve will travel thousands of kilometres through South Africa, Botswana, and Zambia to bring Bibles, audio Bibles, prayer, and the hope of Jesus to rural communities.
Fuel is one of the largest mission costs. The planned journey may cover around 8,000 kilometres, with fuel costs estimated between R28,000 and R35,000.
Your gift can help put the mission vehicle on the road and bring God’s Word to villages where many people have little access to the Gospel.
Fuel estimate for the mission journey: R28,000–R35,000
This supports approximately 8,000 km of travel across Southern Africa, depending on fuel prices, route conditions, and border travel.
If Steve’s Mitsubishi Pajero averages around 10–12 litres per 100 km, an 8,000 km journey would use roughly 800–960 litres. At about R25 per litre, fuel alone could be R20,000–R24,000 before extra travel, detours, rural driving, and higher fuel costs in Zambia.
How to support?
“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.”
Romans 10:15
