Fellowship Retreat Weekend 2026

Walking Together in Faith, Friendship, and Purpose

14th–15th August 2026

What a wonderful and blessed weekend we shared together as a church family.

Over two days, members and friends of Lighthouse Odense Community Church gathered for a fellowship retreat in the beautiful surroundings of Assens, Torø, and Hælnæs. Our goal was simple: to spend time with God, strengthen our relationships, learn from one another, and enjoy His creation together.

Throughout the weekend, we walked nearly 10 kilometres along beaches, forest paths, and coastal trails. As we walked, conversations flowed naturally. We shared testimonies, encouraged one another, prayed together, and discussed what it means to follow Jesus in our daily lives.

One of the greatest blessings was seeing the younger men stepping up and learning how to care for and mentor younger boys. During the retreat, they had opportunities to lead by example, offer encouragement, listen, teach, and demonstrate what Christian brotherhood looks like in practice. These moments reminded us that discipleship is not only something that happens in church services, but also around campfires, during walks, and through everyday conversations.

A special highlight of the trip was our visit to the historic lighthouse at Hælnæs. Standing beside a real lighthouse reminded us of our calling as Christians.

Jesus said:

«”You are the light for the whole world. A city built on top of a hill cannot be hidden.”

— Matthew 5:14 (CEV)»

Just as a lighthouse guides ships safely through darkness and difficult waters, we are called to shine the light of Christ in our homes, workplaces, schools, and communities.

Our hike around Torø was another memorable experience. Walking along the coastline, enjoying the fresh sea air, and taking in the beauty of God’s creation gave us time to reflect on His goodness and faithfulness. Many meaningful conversations took place as we walked side by side.

As evening came, we gathered around a bonfire. Together we cooked marshmallows, shared stories, laughed, and talked about life, faith, family, and the future. There is something special about sitting around a fire that helps people open their hearts and build deeper friendships.

The retreat was not about having a packed schedule. It was about slowing down, spending time together, and allowing God to work in our relationships and in our hearts.

We are grateful for everyone who participated, contributed, and helped make the weekend possible. Most of all, we thank God for His protection, provision, and presence throughout the retreat.

As a church family, we returned home refreshed, encouraged, and reminded that we are stronger when we walk together.

«”Two people are better than one, because together they can work more effectively.”

— Ecclesiastes 4:9 (CEV)»

Thank you, Lord, for the gift of friendship, fellowship, and community. May we continue to grow together in faith, serve one another in love, and be a light to the city of Odense and beyond.
